Student Input into a Virtual Social Media Student comments are invited at
any time. A question is posed below the input box. It will
change from time to time. Students are asked to check often and
"reverseTwitter" a comment about the question. The
reverseTwitter stream will be summarized and results placed into a
blog.
Students may also ask to have comments placed into a section of Chapter Three, the proposal to the President..... Just indicate in your comment the page number and a few words where you would like your comment to be inserted in the proposal.. <link> Deep learning methods are not often understood, so at times students may feel the need to complain about how the class is conducted. We encourage this type of communication, since we are building a model about how students feel regarding deep learning methods. Comments made will be placed into a database. Edited comments will be posted into a class blog, and some methods used to represent the discussion between the class members and the professor. In addition to capturing the opinions of students, we are also developing a digital video based repository of student classnotes. One means to enhance deep learning is for the student to take notes in class, and review their notes while outside of class. Each semester, an upper list of names of topics would be included in the course syllabus. The upper list will be extended using two-level topic taxonomy. Each semester, the course would start with no topics in the focus topic repository. Students will meet to review video and to work on video clip submission to the professor. Students might prize note taking, even though all posting to the community of practice will always be missing name and voice. Topics would develop both in number and as additional notes on a specific topic is submitted. |
